As Clinical Director of Psylutions, Dr Uzma Durrani brings more than 30 years’ experience supporting organisations and individuals facing complex psychological, organisational and wellbeing challenges.

A UK BACP Senior Accredited practitioner, qualified trauma specialist, supervisor and trainer, Uzma combines extensive clinical expertise with strategic leadership experience across the NHS, charities, higher education, British government and the private sector. Her work has focused on complex PTSD, psychological trauma, culturally responsive mental healthcare, leadership, governance and service development.

Throughout her career, Uzma has led multidisciplinary teams, developed innovative mental health services and managed organisational change across complex environments. She established a specialist mental health service for culturally diverse and refugee communities in Brighton & Hove, improving access to psychological support through a service that continues to operate today.

Alongside her clinical work, Uzma has held a number of senior leadership and governance appointments. She served for 12 years as a Magistrate in London, including Adult Chair and Youth Chair roles, and was a Board Member of Rethink Mental Illness. She has also provided psychological and linguistic expertise within UK government departments supporting intelligence and national security.

An accomplished academic, Uzma completed her PhD in Psychoanalysis at Regent’s University London. Her doctoral research led to the development of the B-Me Assessments Programme, an innovative framework for culturally responsive mental health assessment and intervention. Independently accredited by the Royal College of Nursing, the programme equipped mental health professionals with practical skills to deliver more inclusive and effective care.

Uzma’s approach combines compassion, evidence and collaboration. She works with organisations to strengthen leadership, improve workforce wellbeing, develop psychologically informed services and support individuals affected by trauma and complex mental health challenges. Her ability to integrate clinical expertise with strategic thinking enables her to deliver practical, sustainable solutions that improve organisational performance and psychological wellbeing.

Together with Dr Lionel Fairweather, Uzma provides Psylutions with a distinctive combination of organisational psychology, HR expertise and senior clinical mental health leadership, enabling the consultancy to support organisations across the full spectrum of organisational performance, resilience and wellbeing.
